February 2008
How has your February been? Even with an extra day in the month it still flies by doesn’t it?
Well I’ve been a busy gal this month and have been getting spoilt rotten at some really nice events. I think I told you in last month’s diary that I was looking forward to those ...
I was invited to the Showbiz Ball by my Club Cupid series producer so I was delighted to be his plus 1. We had an absolute ball on the night, we really did. Let’s just say I didn’t get home the same day I left. Not by a long shot! Ok, you get the picture
It was great to be amongst the true legends of Scottish stage and screen. A really fun night had by all.
Then later in the month, I was off to the uber-exclusive Ebel event at Cameron House. I think I told you already, I have been asked to be an ambassador of the brand so I have the most beautiful watches to wear and Ebel were re-launching their stunning Beluga range. With only around 25 to 30 invited guests I literally had a golden ticket! (Ooh, I just remembered, I had my photo taken with the Managing Director on the night so I will need to try to remember to scan it on and attach it below! I don’t have my scanner set up yet – low on the list in the new home priority list - so I’ll do that from my Dad’s PC soon I promise)
Anyway, I had an amazing night, I really did. Cameron House in itself is such a luxurious location, and I really did arrive in style because Ebel’s MD sent a chauffeur to collect me who then waited to whisk me back home again at the end of the night (a girl could get used to that kind of treatment let me tell you ... what a shame it was for one night only! Talk about a Cinderella moment! Haha)
And guess what scaredy-cat wee Watt tried on the night .... caviar!! Ok, let me go back a couple of steps.
Have you heard of Heston Blumenthal?
... the triple Michelin star chef who owns The Fat Duck restaurant?
In fact, chef maybe isn’t the right word ... he’s known as a food scientist! You so need to Google/Wiki him ...
Anyway, Ebel flew Heston up to cook for us on the night but before dinner, at the champagne reception, he introduced us to his canapés to die for. One of which was quite something ... a mousse that was then poached in liquid nitrogen!! Basically a ball of mousse is dropped into the smoking bowl of nitrogen (yes, minus 150 degrees!), it’s then fished out and some caviar is very quickly popped on the top and you then instantly eat it! And it’s a bit of a mouthful let me tell you. My heart was beating out my body ... how sad is that? I don’t eat fish so I was terrified to try fish eggs!!! (hence the over-excessive heart-beating situation) But I did it! Oh yeah!
And the three course meal was just as amazing as you would expect from such a world-renowned chef. Oh and I even tried Ox cheek too (but enough of my food-fear triumphs!)
Then the following morning I was doing an official opening for charity in my home town which went really well. It’s great to give a little back and do things for charity it really is. And with it being in my home town (and some press coverage in the run up to the event) a few of my old school teachers turned up on the day! Presenting on telly in front of millions is nothing to being watched, in person, by the very people who spent a number of years telling me I had far too much to say for myself! Haha.
I laughed at one gentleman who came up to me and said “it’s great to meet you Michelle, my wife taught you at school and I knew you would turn up today with your hair immaculate and your lipgloss on” ... ha ha, even at school I was like that!
And a few other teachers came over and we had some lovely chats about days gone by. They were telling me how proud they were that I was doing so well (it was really touching) I told them my little niece was coming up into First Year this year so I’ve asked them to look out for her (and I’ve told them that, unlike her auntie, she’s a well behaved little angel so they can relax!)
And then back earlier in the month The Sun did a nice Valentine feature which I headlined (I can’t tell you how supportive they’ve been in my career. I am so lucky with the Scottish press I really am ... and I’m really grateful)
Well, you’ll be glad to hear, I think I’ll sign off now (not because I’m out of February stories - just because my wee fingers are sore - and as my old schoolteachers would tell you ... I’ve got false nails to think about!)
Same time same place in March??? It’s a date! See you then ...
